Rita McGrath, recently named as the sixth most influential business
thinker in the world comes to Maryland on January 30th, 2014 at the BWI
Airport Hilton Hotel from 9:00 am-1:00 pm. The program will feature Rita
followed by a panel of CPAs (CEO, CFO, Managing Partner, global company
CFO) and a working session for participants to create their “2014
Competitive Edge Playbook.”
Rita McGrath makes the case that, “Strategy is stuck. For too long the
business world has been obsessed with the notion of building a
sustainable competitive advantage… But it’s now rare for a company to
maintain a truly lasting advantage. Competitors and customers have
become too unpredictable, and industries too amorphous. Stability, not
change, is the state that is most dangerous in highly dynamic
competitive environments. It’s typical for leaders to deny there is an
issue until far too late, at which point there is an “all hands on deck”
full-blown crisis.”
Rita McGrath was just named the sixth most influential business thinker

top 25 smartest women to follow on twitter.” She is Associate Professor
of Management at Columbia Business School and has been featured in
Harvard Business Review several times. She will be talking about her
latest book, The End of Competitive Advantage – How to Keep Your
