If you do not receive either confirmation email please contact our office to confirm your registration via the Chat on the website or email team@macpa.org.

Cancellations / refund policy

If you are unable to attend a seminar or conference, please notify us as soon as possible. The cancellation and refund schedule is as follows:

Within 14 days of the program: You can switch to another course with a $20 fee or get a refund minus 50% of the payment.

Or you can transfer the FULL amount to MACPA Account Funds to be used (within a year) towards another CPE event.  There will be no refunds from Account Funds.

Change Fee - In-Person & Virtual/Simulcast Events - 14 (or fewer) days before the event:

Due to financial obligations incurred by the MACPA, any requests to convert a registration from In-Person to Virtual within 14 days (or fewer) before the event will be subject to a change fee of $25.00

Cancellations and/or changes will not be accepted after 5 p.m. on the previous business day.

Dress code

Our dress code is business casual. For your comfort, we recommend dressing in layers to accommodate typical variations in meeting room temperatures.

Program evaluations

Attendee evaluation forms are a part of the post event CPE certificate process and provided online following every event. The results assist in determining the quality of the event, the effectiveness of the speaker(s), and help to ensure that the mandatory educational requirements have been met.

Fee structure

Unless otherwise noted, the course registration fee includes: instruction, electronic course materials, lunch and beverage breaks.

MACPA members, non-CPAs referred by MACPA members, or CPAs who are members of other state CPA societies pay the member fee for each course. CPAs who are not members of the MACPA or any other recognized state CPA society are required to pay the non-member fee, which is typically at least an additional $100 per day of instruction.

Government payments

Government employees may submit a purchase order or a training authorization order provided payment is received by the program date. If not received, the MACPA will hold a personal check or credit card number from the participant, which will be held until payment is received from the employer. If payment is not received within two weeks, the participant’s check will be deposited or credit card will be charged. The participant will be reimbursed by the MACPA when the employer’s payment is received.

Registration

We urge you to register early. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and classes frequently reach capacity well before the program date.

To register online: Log in to your MACPA account online (macpa.org). Navigate to the CPE calendar or the course catalog to view the available events. Add the event to your cart and checkout or return to the calendar or catalog to add additional courses to your cart.

If you are a firm registering multiple staff members and need assistance, or a Government Agency using a P.O., please contact the MACPA Member Service Center (800-782-2036 or the online chat) for assistance.

CPE record keeping

To earn the recommended CPE hours offered for each course, you must (1) be sure to check in onsite at registration and (2) complete the online attestation of attendance on your My CPE page.

If you are attending an MACPA virtual/online event our webcast platform will track your attendance.  If you have satisfied the minimum attendance requirement participation check ins (70%) for the course you will be automatically awarded your CPE certificate - you will still need to complete the online survey to retrieve your certificate.

If the virtual/online event is being offered by the AICPA, it will be hosted on their platform.  Members will receive a confirmation email from the AICPA upon registration with instructions on how to access the webcast.  The email is coming from do_not_reply@on24event.com, please be sure to whitelist this email address or look for it in your spam or junk folders.

The AICPA platform will track and award your CPE certificate.  If you have any questions regarding an AICPA hosted webcast please contact them directly at https://www.aicpa.org/help

The MACPA maintains a record of actual attendance for all participants. For an in person event - if you arrive late or must leave the class early, please be sure to adjust the hours on your confirmation form or note to reflect the actual hours you attended.

For MACPA virtual events - if you are unable to attend the entire webcast please contact the MACPA at team@macpa.org. We will verify your participation time and manually award your partial CPE.

Professional development transcripts

The MACPA maintains records for members who have earned CPE at MACPA sponsored events.

Members can access their transcripts online on your MY CPE page (please be sure to log in). This feature enables members to keep track of all CPE credits and professional development needs in one convenient record. Online transcripts provide members the opportunity to:

Members may also contact the MACPA for copies of their personal professional development records at (800) 782-2036 or team@macpa.org

Timeframes and arriving on time

Be sure to allow enough time for traffic, parking, and check-in. MACPA event start and end times vary, please refer to your event confirmation or the event on the MACPA website for specific event details.

An MACPA staff member will be present to check you in to the event.

Inclement weather

The MACPA rarely cancels scheduled seminars due to inclement weather. Participants should assume programs will be held unless cancellations are reported on local radio stations (WBAL and WTOP).

In the event of a cancellation the MACPA staff will contact you via email, please respond to that email with your acknowledgement.  If the staff does not hear back from you they will attempt to reach you by phone.

More specific information regarding possible cancellations will be available on the PD voicemail message, which can be reached by calling the MACPA at (410) 296-6250, ext. 248, or (800) 782-2036, ext. 248.

Need to check the weather now? Go to The Weather Channel’s website.

CPE credit guarantee

The MACPA understands the criteria necessary to qualify for CPE credit in Maryland. We guarantee that our courses will be accepted for the recommended CPE credit, or we will give you the option to enroll in another course of equal value at no charge or to receive a refund of your registration fee.

If this option is not available, please check your system sound by testing a video on an external website (i.e. YouTube, Google etc.) to be sure your device audio is functioning properly.

I am not seeing the pop ups during the program?

You should see several popups during the course of a web event. You will need to click at least 70% of them in order to obtain your CPE credit. They will appear in the middle of your screen accompanied by an audible bell. If you do not see them your screen may be at “full screen”, drop your screen size down and manually expand it (with your mouse) to accommodate a better view.

Can I watch this with my co-workers and get credit?

Every user must be logged on individually in order to earn CPE. Please only watch online programs in a group if you have previously arranged for group learning with MACPA.

Please contact the MACPA to arrange for a group to view an online event together, group discounts are available.

How do I access the course materials for a web event?

For AICPA webcasts the ematerials are available on their webcast platform 15 mins prior to the event start time.

For webcasts on the MACPA site ematerials are available on the event page (or via your My CPE page) at least 24 hours prior the event start time.
