Diversity & Inclusion

We are working toward a profession that includes everyone.

A diverse CPA profession is a better CPA profession.

This is why MACPA works to include everyone. Our members represent the very best of all parts of our state and culture. And we are working to make sure our membership and our profession expands to better reflect and serve the world we live in.

Like other professions, the CPA profession is strong because of the many voices that contribute. Our hope and goal is to increase the breadth of those voices. We want more input. More perspective. More insight. And we’ll be a stronger profession because of it.

Professional Mentoring

Our membership is comprised of some of the best accounting, business, and technological talent in the world. Together, we represent hundreds of thousands of years of professional experience. That vast experience must be passed on to the next generation of CPAs.

If you are interested in being a mentor or being mentored by an MACPA member, please contact our Member Service Center!

Upcoming Events

Throughout the year, MACPA hosts special diversity and inclusion events, as well as featured student and member events. These gatherings both reflect the diversity of our profession and offer opportunities for us to promote the work our members are doing to improve professional diversity.

The MACPA Pipeline Initiative is the work MACPA does on behalf of our member organizations to prepare students (high school and higher ed) and CPA Candidates for their future careers. We celebrate and train future CPAs by hosting events and providing resources for their success.

The Pipeline Initiative is critical to our diversity and inclusion efforts because we must make the profession appealing to young people from every demographic if we are going to truly become a diverse profession.

The future of our profession is in the hands of today’s students. Our diversity and inclusion work starts with them.

Accessibility for Participation

Because we want every one of our members to be able to be involved with MACPA in the way that’s best for them, we endeavor to make our content available in numerous formats and locations. MACPA hosts special events and CPE courses all over the state, as well as hundreds of simulcasts, webcasts, and webinars, including a variety of content available 24/7 on-demand.

We also make our content available in many formats on many platforms, so that we can have the greatest reach for serving our members well. Many of our videos also include a closed captioning service for the hearing impaired.

We know we can improve. And we must work together. Our members and our assocation’s staff can make a big difference for our profession in Maryland and beyond.

If you would like to learn about how you, your firm, or your organization can make strides in joining us on the path to greater diversity and inclusion, please contact us.
