Panel: Working in the Cannabis Industry

Description

This is an AICPA ENGAGE 2019 conference session rebroadcast.

The ongoing tension between state and local laws and regulations supporting the cannabis industry in relation to the illegal status under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 has created huge conundrums for operators, investors and advisors.

This webcast will explore the continuing evolution of the cannabis industry and how professionals are responding to requests for services. The panelists will also discuss key legislation and latest developments in the federal and state level that are shaping the cannabis and hemp industry, including ethical issues that accountants may face.

Learning Objectives
  • Hear about the lessons learned in Colorado that have been providing a broad range of support to selected cannabis and hemp clients since 2009
  • Get an update on the status of key legislation, including the STATES Rights Act, and SAFE Banking Act that are currently being considered at the federal level
