AACC: Local Economic Update

Description

Local economic development leaders from the various municipalities will provide participants an update on current strategies employed by local governments to sustain and grow the local business ecosystem. Representative from the Small Business Administration (SBA) will provide an overview of various SBA programs and financial assistance available to support small and emerging businesses.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will understand how their local government serves as a catalyst for business growth:

  • Recruits new businesses to locate in region and assists in the expansion of existing businesses
  • Anticipates and addresses workforce development needs of the county’s business community;
  • Promotes their respective county as a premier location for business;
  • Provides advocacy for County businesses undergoing the regulatory and approval process;
  • Provides financing assistance to county businesses;
  • Incentivizes redevelopment and revitalization along older commercial corridors;
  • Promotes technology development and innovation by offering a menu of financing, incentives and resources
  • Promotes agriculture and technology development
