AACC: Are Your Financials and 990 Getting Your Message Out & Employment Law

Description

Part 1: With donors and grantors turning to GuideStar, Charity Navigator, or directly requesting financial statements to evaluate charitable organizations, it is important to be sure you are communicating your message using your financial documents. In this session, you will gain an understanding of how to ensure your financial statements and 990 reflect your message and remain in line with generally accepted accounting principles. We will take a deep dive into what we have learned post-implementation of the new accounting standards, examining:

  • Categories and method of cost allocation and disclosures required for the financial statement footnotes
  • Implementation follow-up from ASU 2016-14
  • Things to be aware of concerning the new lease accounting standard
  • Revenue recognition update for grants and contributions (ASU 2018-08)

Presented by: Andy Powell and Marco Fernandes from Halt, Buzas & Powell, LTD
