This session will review FASB Accounting Standards Updates issued in the past several years that have broad applicability to both public and private enterprises, including not-for-profit organizations.  Topics include  the new revenue recognition standard, the new lease standard, the new contribution revenue and expense standard that was developed as a result of the new revenue recognition standard, and a brief overview of the  preparation engagement standard for accountants.

With the responsibilities of CPAs expanding at a rapid pace, this presentation will take a look at some of the “Non-Traditional” engagements that CPAs can provide to the public.  This course will focus on AICPA attestations, specifically SOC and Agreed-Upon Procedures, including what these reports are and what role the CPA plays.  There will also be discussion on what areas of focus a CPA should have if they decide to explore these types of engagements.

In this session, participants will learn how to effectively integrate ethical decision-making and leadership principles into business and accounting courses. The session will provide tips for facilitating online teaching tools, case studies and interactive exercises that can be replicated in college classrooms. The strategies are designed to increase classroom engagement and complement the ethics education that educators currently provide for their students.

This session will focus on how the emergence of D&A tools and skills is making an impact on the accounting profession, and the role of accounting educators in helping our students develop the skills they need. We will discuss different ways to enhance classroom learning around D&A, and at what points in the curriculum is it most appropriate to introduce these topics.
