Small business owners have a lot on their plates, and that creates a lot of stress, which can sometimes make you wonder if it’s all worth it.

Now, let’s throw a couple more stressors onto those plates.

Let’s start with a pandemic. Then, let’s add a family, and all of the emotional, financial, and time-related factors involved there. Finally, let’s throw a life-threatening illness on top of it all, along with a couple of extended rounds of medical treatment and therapy.

What you’ve got is the incredible but true story you’re about to hear from my guest this week.

She is Kelly Mann. Kelly is a CPA and the co-founder and CEO of AuditMiner, a tool used by CPAs to save time and increase quality in their 401(k) audits. In the first 6 months of product release, AuditMiner has built a strong customer base from 25 states across the country.

But it hasn’t been all rainbows and sunshine for Kelly and her team. She built the company from the ground up during a pandemic while raising three young children. To top it off, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer six months after the company was formed.

There were many, many points in time when AuditMiner could have gone under when Kelly herself could have gone under.

But this is a story about the resilience, perseverance and strength displayed by a woman who has grown her own business from scratch. And I couldn’t think of a better way to close out Women’s History Month than by hearing more about this amazing journey — taken by one of the more amazing women you’re likely to meet these days.

Listen to our conversation in its entirety.
