Am I the last person on Earth who hasn’t downloaded Chrome?
In the unlikely event that you’re as late to the party as I am, Chrome is Google’s new Internet browser, and judging from the conversations on Twitter, everyone has been taking it for a ride. (And if you’re not using Twitter, either, what’s holding you back? Seriously, folks, Twitter rocks.)
But back to Chrome. Here’s what the experts are saying about it:
- Serious potential in Google’s browser (from the New York Times)
- Chrome ‘an intriguing alternative’ (from PC World)
- Google’s Chrome browser: This baby flies (from the Los Angeles Times)
- Google Chrome lacks polish under the hood (from the Associated Press)
- Google Chrome vulnerabilities starting to pile up (from ZDNet)
But here’s my question: Why do I need another browser? I’ve already got Internet Explorer and Firefox — and that’s usually one too many. Is Chrome that much better? Does it offer some kind of revolutionary new Internet experience that I’m not going to get with any other browser?
Seriously, I want to know. I don’t know the answers, so tell me why I should try Chrome. What do you like about it? What does it do better than any other browser? And if the answer is “Nothing,” I want to know that, too. Tell me what you like — and what you don’t like — about the new browser, and help me decide if I should bother downloading it.
