We all wish we had one thing: more time. And now, you’ve got more time to make a difference: by nominating a woman CPA for the MACPA’s 2016 Women to Watch Awards. Recognizing women CPAs with exceptional achievements in audit, business and industry, government or not-for-profits is important not only to the individuals receiving awards, but as role models to the entire profession.
The AICPA’s Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee (WIEC) initiated the Women to Watch Award Program in 2005 in partnership with several state CPA societies to honor outstanding women in the profession. The awards highlight the accomplishments of women in the profession, and demonstrate to emerging female leaders that success is not out of reach. The event provides a forum for state CPA societies to lead important conversations about issues their female members face. Learn more about the MACPA’s Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
MACPA Chair Lisa Cines notes that the Women to Watch event is one example of how the MACPA’s achieves its mission of helping its members Connect, Protect, and Achieve. “Take the opportunity to connect Maryland Women CPAs through nominating women for the award, and attending the event!” She adds, “The awards and event help protect someone’s opportunities by sharing her story so she can achieve the recognition that she rightly deserves. I hope to see many of you at Women to Watch 2016!”
Samantha Bowling, CPA, CGMA, Partner with Garbelman Winslow, Secretary – Treasurer of the MACPA’s Board of Directors, and Chair of the MACPA’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee, adds, “Everyone knows a woman super star – it is the person you are thankful for every day that she is part of your organization. She steps up the plate and leads by example. What would you do without this person? It is time to nominate this super star . She deserves the recognition for her leadership and guidance as a mentor. We are a better profession because of her efforts and she should be recognized and honored for her achievements. What are you waiting for?”
