Everyone else is chiming in on the 2008 presidential election already, so what the heck — let’s get the CPA profession in on the act, too, shall we?

In an unscientific online poll conducted by AccountingWeb, accountants cast their “ballots” among all the current presidential candidates. The winners? Hillary Clinton topped the Democratic field with 50 percent of the vote, with Barack Obama coming in a distant second at 23 percent. Among Republican candidates, Fred Thompson was the leader at 31 percent, followed by Rudy Giuliani at 25 percent.

Mark the results under, “For what it’s worth.” We only have 13 months left to change our minds, after all.

In the meantime, tell us: Who’s your choice for president?
