Our nation’s economy may be holding its own, but our own personal economies are in dire straits.
That’s the view of Shira Boss, author of Green With Envy: A Whole New Way to Look at Financial (Un)Happiness. In a recent interview with National Public Radio, Boss said many Americans have lost the ability to live within their means, and that’s creating a great deal of anxiety in households throughout the country.
“We need to take a close look at our expenses and start trimming the fat,” Boss told NPR’s Renee Montagne. And when it comes to the “Big Three” — housing, transportation and food — Boss said you’ll need to think creatively to cut those expenses. She offers some tips for doing so.
