I can’t think of a better place to spend the Fourth of July than in Ocean City, Md., where we just finished three days of sun, surf and CPE at our annual Beach Retreat.
Three days of great CPE covered technical accounting and tax and special sessions for business and industry, taught by some of the MACPA’s (and the AICPA’s) best instructors. There was also a lot of netwoking going on as CPAs from the shore and all over the state took advantage of the relaxed beach atmosphere to catch up on CPE.
One of our prominent Eastern Shore firms, PKS & Company(Pigg, Krahl, & Stern), was out in force as 20 partners and staff from the firm’s Ocean City and Salisbury offices joined us at the Beach Retreat. (Pictured above is Leslie Michalik, winner of a random prize drawing during the first day of the Beach Retreat.)
We were honored to have several of the Maryland CPA profession’s leaders in attendance, including two University of Maryland accounting educators, Gary Bulmash and Vicki Rymer, and past MACPA President Joe Healy. Dr. Rymer also served on the Maryland State Board of Public Accountancy during the transition to the 150-hour educational requirement.
The Beach Retreat has become an MACPA tradition over the past six-plus years as CPAs take advantage of sun, surf and CPE wrapped around the Fourth of July holiday.
Here are some photos from this year’s Beach Retreat, and some photos from 2008 Beach Retreat.
I can’t wait to see the fireworks on the beach tonight!
