I love Thanksgiving. This uniquely American holiday lets us focus not on gifts and glitz, but on gratitude, and few things warm my heart more.
As we make final preparations for this week’s celebration, let’s remember to pause and take stock of the people and things for which we are grateful. Here are some of mine.
I am grateful to be part of a profession that is as important and relevant to our economy and clients as it has ever been, one that’s committed to  transformation and future-readiness while not losing site of its rich history and traditions.
I am grateful for the talent, enthusiasm, and future-focused wisdom of  the next generation of CPAs, who will lead the profession’s transformation. As our recently  Newly-Licensed CPA Swearing-In Ceremony made clear, the future of our profession is in good hands.
I am grateful for our members, so many of whom are committed to taking valuable time out of their busy schedules to  stay current on the issues and trends that impact their organizations, careers, and clients. The profession is stronger for their efforts.
I am grateful for the MACPA’s leadership — our  Board of Directors and many volunteers. They are helping us transform the profession with their future-focused  thought leadership, and always with an eye on bringing that transformation to Maryland first.
I am grateful for the dedication and talents of the incredible MACPA and BLI teams. We are a better association — and our members are geared for greater success — thanks to their efforts.
I am grateful for the men and women who protect, heal, bring comfort, and seek peace and justice for an increasingly chaotic and uncertain world.
Most of all, I am grateful for the love of family and friends, and for the opportunity to spend a day in reflection of all of these things.
From the MACPA family to yours, best wishes for a happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Tom Hood, CPA and the entire MACPA team
