Looking for a reason to celebrate?

How about this: The Maryland Association of CPAs turns 120 today.

Here’s a passage from the MACPA’s history book, Our Past, Our Future: 100 Years of CPAs in Maryland, published in 2001 as part of the MACPA’s centennial celebration:

The MACPA’s original charter, dated February 12, 1901, indicates that “The Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants of Baltimore City” was the organization’s first official name. The following individuals signed the MACPA’s original charter:

    • Max Teichmann
    • Frank Blacklock
    • Eugene Greenway
    • John H. Blacklock
    • Ferdinand L. Brauns
    • Wm. G. Ray
    • H.F. Meyer

While the MACPA’s name mentioned Baltimore City, the charter of the MACPA notes the importance of “uniting” CPAs throughout the state in the new association.

Happy 120th birthday, MACPA! Here’s to 120 more …
