As part of its annual Practice Innovation Awards, Practical Accountant has recognized Maryland CPA firm KAWG&F for its Second Life initiative. Last year, the firm became one of the first to establish a presence in the virtual world, and this year the firm has expanded its Second Life outreach by setting up shop on CPA Island, an SL region established by the MACPA.

The firm was recognized in the “Impetus Technology” section of Practical Accountant’s Practice Innovation Awards.

“KAWG&F has used technology to look beyond immediate geographic boundaries in considering business opportunities by opening a new office in Second Life,” writes Practical Accountant. “… Upon entering KAWG&F’s Second Life virtual office, visitors can interact with the office via a direct link to the firm’s Web site, and contact with an accountant directly.”

Have you visited Second Life? What’s your take on the virtual world’s business potential?
