Time100Time magazine this week published its annual “Time 100,” a list of the planet’s 100 most influential people. Appropriately, the world of finance is well representated on the list. Among those included are:

  • Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and renowned philanthropist;
  • Erik Lie, an associate professor at the University of Iowa’s Henry B. Tippie College of Business whose published report helped uncover scandals related to the practice of options backdating;
  • Clara Furse, CEO of the London Stock Exchange;
  • Steven Cohen, whose hedge fund, SAC Capital, “has become perhaps the most talked-about force on Wall Street,” according to the article;
  • Ho Ching, CEO of Temasek Holdings, the investment arm of the government of Singapore whose shareholder equity has nearly doubled since Ho took charge in 2002; and
  • Philip Rosedale, founder and CEO of Linden Lab, the creator of the virtual world Second Life. (CPAs are among the first finance professionals to create a presence in Second Life.)
