Everyone’s feeding the pig these days.

Need proof? Check out the photo above. My family and I drove some 700 miles from St. Louis to western Maryland for a little R&R, and there, on Route 42 near Friendsville, we saw this “Feed the Pig” billboard, enticing Deep Creek Lake vacationers to go easy on the boat rentals and barbecues and sock away some money for retirement.

Has it worked? All I know is boat traffic on the lake seems lighter than usual this year.

Then again, maybe gas prices are to blame …
