Oh, glorious day … my iPad is here! I feel like Steve Martin in “The Jerk.” (“The new phone book is here! The new phone book is here! I’m somebody now!”)
Anyway, I’ve been looking for some suggestions for apps that will really make the device come alive … or at least let me use it productively. I posed the question recently on Twitter and Facebook, and here’s what a few of my friends are using:
- Twitterrific, TweetDeck, Twittelator, Tweetie (because Twitter is a must)
- Facebook and LinkedIn (of course)
- News apps like NPR, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, the New York Times and the like
- Kindle (for e-books)
- iTap RDP (for remote desktop access)
- QuickOffice (mobile Office software)
- Photoshop Mobile (image editing and sharing)
- Mindjet (mobile mind-mapping)
- Evernote (I love this app)
- GoodReader (for reading PDFs and ebooks)
- Instapaper (a “read later” e-bookmark that looks really useful)
- OmniFocus (task management)
- Tripit (travelers, take note)
- AT&T Navigator (GPS functionality)
- Occasions (remembering … well, occasions)
- AroundMe (finding restaurants, shops, etc.)
Something tells me that’s just the tip of the iceberg, so let’s hear it: What did we miss? What’s your can’t-live-without iPhone / iPad app? Click on “Comments” and let us know. And if you’re an Android user, heck, join in the fun, too.
Let’s start putting together the definitive list of mobile business apps.
