Do you believe in ghosts?
If you answered “yes” this Halloween, you’re in good company.
According to a recent Associated Press / Ipsos poll, about one in every three people believes in ghosts, and 23 percent say “they’ve actually seen a ghost or felt its presence.” And that’s not all: Nineteen percent of those polled say they believe in spells or witchcraft, and 48 percent believe in extrasensory perception, or ESP.
Spooky …
Actually, it might be easier to find a ghost this Halloween than a pumpkin. This year’s pumpkin harvest is truly ghoulish: There are about 100 million fewer pounds of pumpkins around this year, thanks to poor weather conditions. This article scared up some other interesting Halloween numbers, including these:
- Americans will spend more than $5 billion on Halloween this year, more than every other holiday except Christmas.
- The average household will spend about $20 on Halloween candy.
- Americans will spend about $23 on each Halloween costume.
- Half of all households will decorate for the occasion.
If you have any cash left over, use it to have a frightfully fun Halloween!
