Walk Have you seen the TED talk from Bruce Feiler about his “council of dads?” It's pretty inspirational stuff: A father with cancer asks friends to deliver life lessons to his two young daughters after his death. It's one of those I-dare-you-not-to-be-moved presentations, and it works.

Near the end of his talk, Feiler — who survived an incredibly complex surgery that nearly cost him his left leg — offered up the following perspective from his physical therapist:

“Every step is a tragedy waiting to happen. You almost fall off one leg … and then you catch yourself with the other.”

If we can survive that many near-catastrophes each day without even thinking about it, imagine what we can do if we put our minds to work.

In that light, I'm thinking all of the groundbreaking changes that are sweeping the profession might not seem so insurmountable after all. Maybe the answer is as simple as putting one foot in front of the other.

Food for thought.
