Spd11 Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. Just ask the National Retail Federation, which says consumers spent nearly $4 billion on this year’s St. Pat’s celebrations. “That works out to $34.89 per individual,” reports the Business Journal of Phoenix.

On rare occasions, those celebrations spill over into the workday. A CareerBuilder survey found that 11 percent of men and 8 percent of women have had an alcoholic beverage while on the job on St. Patrick’s Day. IT and government workers top the list of on-the-job St. Patrick’s Day drinkers: 15 and 10 percent, respectively, say they have done so. And accounting / finance workers? According to the survey, they lead the category of “workers who admit to drinking on company time during a regular workday at 29 percent.”

Hmmm …

If you’re among those who celebrated a little too, um, enthusiastically this year, you might want to check out the St. Patrick’s Day resources on AOL’s Baltimore CityGuide. Among them: a list of America’s best Irish pubs and tips for surviving the celebration.

And as the Irish blessing goes, “May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live.”
